Item two in the Bloggy Giveaway Carnival, another cone of Mystery Yarn!
It went over well in the last carnival so I thought I'd try it again.
I bought this yarn many moons ago with the intention of weaving or knitting a baby blanket for a cousin. I think that baby is 6 years old now - good intentions and all that jazz. I'd love for someone else to actually use this somehow.
Yarn details: 754 yards, Vimar 1991, Carisio (VC), Ping Pong, Yellow core yarn with fluffs of lighter yellow, pink, blue, and green.
Contest rules: leave me a comment (one per person, please!) about babies, weaving, knitting or one of your good intentions that went awry. This is open to anyone. (I'll probably opt for the slowest shipping possible for anyone not in the continental US, but I'll get it there!) I'll close down the comments Saturday 4/26 at midnight and determine a winner. Please leave a way for me to contact you.
Don't forget to check out my other giveaways: Yoplait Kids yogurt, Starbucks, Lia Sophia jewelry, and Customized Fruit Rollups!

I love it!
I think this would be perfect for crocheting into a blanket for my first niece or nephew. It looks so very soft.
As for good intentions.. I fully did intend to send out Christmas Cards this year. Ug. I wonder if anyone would notice if I just went ahead and sent them next year. ;)

Count me in. My mom knits, and knits, and knits. She occasionally makes things for us (her family), but mostly she knits children's hats, sweaters, scarves, and vests and they are sent to an orphanage in Romania. I would be very happy to donate more yarn to her never-ending project. Thanks!

My mom loves to knit. I have hats she knitted for our two when they were born. I'd love to give this to her as a gift! Thanks! ( meg.wilson@gmail.com )
I don't knit or weave, but I do crochet. I love making baby blankets and I've make on for each of my 8 children. Now I'm looking forward to making baby blankets for grand-babies.
This is really beautiful -- I love to crotchet blankets and everyone in my family always expects one when a baby is born. Well, I now owe 3! This would certainly help with my to-do list!
wow i love to win this so i could make some thing thanks
This is cute yarn. Hehe, I'm still working on a cross stitch wall hanging from when my 5 year old nephew was born.
I love it! I knitted a friend a baby blanket and hope to make one for my daughter that will be born in July but I am getting a late start (Ha!)
Cool giveaway!
Well, I don't knit at all but my mother-in-awe does. I would love to be able to give it to her.
I can always use more yarn! I am really a crocheter, but this year I have been slowly teaching myself to knit. Maybe this yarn will do the trick.
Thanks for entering me in the drawing.
that yarn looks great! my first quilt i started was a jean quilt and it was for me. my machine couldn't handle it so I only made it halfway through the quilting process. since then I have a new machine and have made two other quilts from start to finish for other people... my quilt is still rolled up on the floor half done! sigh...
Babies seem to be popping up around me everywhere (a niece in March, and two friends are due later this year).
In terms of projects gone awry, I pieced a quilt top over a year ago and then brilliantly decided that after it was sandwiched (also done a year ago) I would hand quilt it... I finally got it back out and back up on the quilt stand but it's going to take a VERY LONG time to hand quilt.
Knit into a loose-open shawl. If very thin then weaved into a tight-knit shawl for warmth.
Good intentions - still planning on finishing the quilt gramdma started in the late 60's.
I started making a baby quilt for my youngest sister when my mom was five months pregnant. My sister will be five in June and it's still not done. Thanks for the chance to win this great giveaway!
That is the happiest yarn! I LOVE it!
Good intentions gone wrong? I knitted a teddy bear for my mom... she HATED the color. She just can't get her head around it. sigh.
But, she DOES love the lamb doll I crocheted for her. So, that makes up for the 'very strange thing' (bear of dis-approved color, ahem) ROTFLOL!
Thanks for this fun giveaway :o)

I love the yarn. I could use it to knit all kinds of things . . . the hardest decision is what to knit!

Great giveaway! Thanks for offering! I would love to use it to crochet a baby blanket for my new niece that's to arrive in Sept. As for my good intention submission - I was crocheting a beautiful granny square blanket for my older niece. I decided to launder it first before I gave it to my sister-in-law. Apparently I need to learn more about joining the squares. The entire blanket fell apart and was a horrible mess when I took it from the washer. Needless to say, I haven't attempted granny squares since then and that was almost 5 years ago! :o)

Good intentions gone awry... you mean like the cross stitched crib quilt I started for a friend's baby 9 years ago? And got a lot more on while I was pregnant last year, but have yet to finish? :) Or the patchwork twin size quilt I started for the same baby that I then turned into a very small baby blankie for another friend's baby about 5 years later? :)
I have a sweater I started before my daughter was born and she is almost 3 now and the sweater is still not done. I have made others for her, I just never really enjoyed the feel of the yarn while knitting with it.
I just got a pattern today for a baby sweater, and this would be the perfect yarn for it!

What a great giveaway! I'd love to win because I knit and crochet baby items for my charity (www.freewebs.com/carepackage) and this would really help me out. Thanks and please enter mine, too!
Beautiful yarn! My daughters would love this for knitting. They've created all sorts of things - baby booties, headbands, purses, and washcloths. Count me in!

Well I tried really hard to knit a hat for a baby, and just couldn't get it right, so I gave up, but I love knitting blankets and have some other yarn that this would look fabulous with.
I keep TRYING to knit baby legwarmers, and since there are no real patterns out there I have to make one up. I am a beginner knitter and don't even know how to increase or decrease yet, but I am doing it!
My daughter does finger weaving and loves this kind of yarn to mix with a matching yarn of a softer material.
I tried making a fellted bag, but it didn't turn out quite right. :) I love this yarn, and my mom knits better than me, and could do something really fun with it!
I won this beautiful knitting kit not too long ago. I was going to make a cute little hat out of it for my best friend.
I opened it up and realized... "I CAN NOT KNIT!" I saw those large knitting needles and just stared at them like they were some kind of torture equipment. Sad as that is.... I'll give it to my best friend so she can give it to a family member to finish. :(
When in college I started knitting an afghan. . . it still is not finished. I have now learned to make smaller items so projects are able to be completed in a more timely fashion (especially not that I am married with two little boys). The yarn looks really great to make something fun with.
My information is in my profile.
The yarn is so cute!
Good intentions- instead of filling up the goody bag for my kids' party with a whole bunch of cheap plastic junk, I bought a variety of webkinz (2 for 1 deal so the cost was about the same as if I made a real goody bag). I bought a variety of 3 different ones for around 20 kids. They all wanted the same dog so now I have about 4 elephants sitting around at home.
I started to crochet a blanket for my daughter when I was pregnant with her. It started out small and just got wider and wider the more I worked on it. After she was born, I just didn't have that time, what with a newborn and all. After three years, turned out pregnant again, but still hadn't finished it. I frogged it, intending to just restart it. It's still sitting in a plastic bag somewhere, my daughter will be ten this summer, and she not only has a younger sister, but a brother too. But, I have made them plenty of other things. And what I make for one, I have to make for the other two.
I have never finished a larger crosstitch - I've had two sitting undone, one for ten years, and one for the past five. It's just not my thing I guess. I love the yarn - I have a MIL and a Grandma that could whip up a blanket for me within a week with that.
Very pretty yarn!
I had good intentions to send out Valentine's cards in lieu of Christmas cards this year, hoping to include our new baby's picture. That morphed into Easter cards, and now I'm aiming for 4th of July cards...do they make cards for that? ;)
Baby sweaters... I have so many friends who are pregnant right now.
Good intentions... dusting, anyone?
3 years ago I found out I was pregnant (at 18) a few days before my mom took me to a local yarn shop for knitting classes. I thought it would be a good time to break the news, until I showed her some pastel yarn I liked and she said that was the kind of yarn you use for baby blankets and she wasn't ready to be a grandma (She was 35 at the time!) I ended up waiting another week to tell her... she's thrilled now!
Great Blog!!! Great Gift!
Thanks!!!

Good intentions... i've been meaning to learn to knit!
Great giveaway! I meant to make legwarmers for my kiddos & still haven't gotten around to it.
I'm seeing this as a cute, airy summer bag with a coordinating lining. Good intentions...where to begin. I have many unfinished knitting projects hanging around. One is a cute bag with all its parts ready, just waiting for me to assemble.
This would be beautiful to make into something, I am sure I could come up with an idea! My intentions often fall short when I say I am going to keep up on the housework, dishes, laundry...I am sure you understand.
I still have a blanket that I started for my daughter before she was born... I haven't finished it yet and she is 17 months old!
I would love to win this! Please enter me.

GREAT giveaway!
Okay...well I have a confession. LOL I have been working on a crocheted blanket for more than 12 years. Probably more like 16. LOL My cousin used to tease me and ask what I was making. I told him it was a scarf for an elephant. I really should finish it so I can start a new project. :)

Thanks and have a lovely day!
What adorable yarn! I think it would make a darling baby blanket and I will be teaching some ladies here in Mexico (don't worry, we have US mailing address) how to crochet and sew. This would make a great project for one of them.
I love the yarn and would make a baby blanket out of it. Thanks!
i love to knit. it's newfound love of mine. i knit for my kids, my family and my friends. this yarn is soo great. i would love to try a blanket or may some scarves. thegoodmanfam at msn dot com
I love knitting, but I've learned never to try anything beyond a scarf... I attempted a baby blanket for my first little cousin 4 years ago, it turned into more or a doll-sized blanket! And don't get me started on the hat I tried to knit - it looks great and all, followed the pattern exactly, but oh my it's even too big for my uncle whose head is so big he can NEVER find hats that fit! Oops!
That looks so much fun to use. It would make a great blanket. Though I still have one to finish this could be the next one I do. Thanks katie_mmartin (at) yahoo [dot] com
How pretty! I've intended to knit or crochet for every baby I've known about for the last few years...so far, I've only done 4 bibs and 2 hats...
Hello !
I haven't done any knitting since I
was a little girl, but those pretty colors would surely get met
started ..
Thank you for the great give-away !

That is gorgeous yarn! Maybe I would start a shawl for my daughter or MiL--I had the best of intentions to crochet a sweater for her a couple years ago and got the yarn and pattern, and even started a swatch, but then set them aside and haven't picked them back up since. Ooops!
Thanks for the contest!

Good Intention: I'd send this yarn to C.A.R.E. (they make baby gowns, blankets, etc. and give them to families who have babies pass away).
I'm trying to learn to knit and this looks like it would be some fun yarn.
Fun looking yarn to make into a baby blanket!
Enter me!
Blessings,
Tammy ~@~
I think that this would love beautiful in a spring type shawl. Knit in a lace style. I'm a knitter and this looks soooo yummy. And to bring home some yarn without spending a dime would make hubby proud!
What a wonderful giveaway you are doing.
Have fun this week with your giveaway. Don't forget to head on over to my blog and sign up for mine!
I bought and cut material for a baby quilts for my twins while pregnant. They are now almost one and it's still not done
Well, I'm only beginning to knit...so I'd like this for crocheting...probably a baby blanket as my sil is due soon...or maybe a cardigan? That's some really neat yarn regardless! Thanks for offering it!

I would crochet this into a blanket for one of my friends who is having a baby. It reminds me of pom poms!
Thanks for the giveaway, I would love to win! nw_wife(at)hotmail(dot)com
I had to knit a scarf for home ec class. The pattern said to knit and then wrap the yarn 3 times around the needle. After finally finishing I spread it out and there, right in the middle of the scarf was a boo boo..instead of wrapping 3 times I had wrapped only 2 times
my heart was in the right place...it started with fairly expensive black yarn. ...Oh how I remember. My first scarf. It is so ugly!!! some of my stitching was too loose and some too tight , I added stitches and lost some. :-( LOL! It was my 1st time knitting just last year. Now I'm a good bit better! :-D
Lovely yarn for a childs project. I just hope it doesn't end up like one of my first adventures with wool yarn. Always read the label! Do not wash in hot water and dry on high heat.....unless you want an afghan or sweater felted to sizes for a gnome. :-(
Awesome giveaway and thanks for participating. Now I sure hope I win.
Very cool yarn! I'd love to knit something for my wee daughter.
Thanks for a great giveaway! I hope I'm the lucky winner! :) babies are great -- just think of a baby that you like/love and it changes your whole mood :)
I know this is'nt what you had in mind, but my new granddaughter has inspired me to learn the art of scrapbooking. I am collecting all kinds of cool 'stuff' to play with. This would be a beautiful addition!
I am just learning to crochet(at 53) this would make a neat afghan. i just made my first scarf, in time for.....uh spring. lol thnx katklaw777(at)yahoo(dot)com
